               The Rostov state medical university - one of the oldest high schools of the country. The High School has prepared more than 30000 doctors, in it has passed advanced training courses more than 35 thousand doctors, and has prepared more than 200 doctors and 1000 candidates of sciences, among which about 100 young scientists are from 19 countries of three continents. Founded in the year 1915 as a Medical faculty of Donskoi University and in 1930 it became an independent medical institute, and now a medical university by itself. In the 64 different departments the academic process is set rolling by more than 600 teaching staff, of which 70 are professors, doctors of science and 420 candidates of science. Annually 4000 students study in the institute and nearly 3000 doctors specialize to increase their qualification. 

                                                  

                The University has its own clinic, which has 1000 beds, and apart from this has its bases in the largest city hospitals also, which enables the students to acquire sound practical knowledge and skills. From the year 1963 the degree of medicine was conferred to more than 2,500 doctors from 87 countries of the world. And nearly 400 foreign doctors have received the degree of candidates of science. The University has well constructed student hostels to accommodate 2500 students where both Russian and foreign students live.
The faculty offers a variety of higher degrees and diplomas, some of which are avaliable to non-medical graduates. Most consist of period of research culminating in the writing of a thesis, but some offer coursework, in which case candidates conclude their candidature by writing a treatise.We look forward to welcoming you to the Faculty of Medicine. 

RECOGNIZATION & ACCREDITATION

              The University has been collaborating with the World Federation for Medical Education, with the World Health Organization (WHO), with UNESCO, with the British Council, with the United States Agency for International Development, with the American International Health Alliance, and participating in a wide range of joint international research projects.

             Nowadays about 6300 (8000 with PG) students study at the faculties. University buildings and clinics are provided with up-to-date equipment, and other modern appliances. There are 63 departments, 27 of them are clinical based in the best clinics of the city, more than 150 research and educational institutions function in RostSMU.

           The University is recognized by WHO (World Health Organization), ECFMG (USA), Medical Council of India (as per MCI Rules). Rost.SMU is member of AMSE (Association of Medical Schools of Europe). After passing degree from Rost.SMU students are eligible for USMLE (USA) or PLUB(UK)Exams.


          All our graduates apply their knowledge and skills acquired at the University in the field of healthcare. All the Rost.SMU graduates pass different certification exams when applying for jobs at clinical establishments of any country of the world - from Europe to Australia. Now more than 1000s of  graduates are working abroad, many of the students have defended the PhD in foreign universities and scientific centers (Norway, Sweden, Poland, Germany and Finland).We are proud of our former medical students working in many clinics all around the world. At present our scientists including the young ones collaborate with leading experts from the European Universities and clinics as equals, take part in the international scientific projects and they are among the experts of the World health Organization.

           The University is situated in a beautiful park on the northern edge of the city center. This gives the university a calm and peaceful atmosphere around it and also helps to create a pleasant environment within which u can study as well as relax. About 80% of University's departments are locatedhere, together with library, Language center, sport hall, cafe and a 600 bed in campus hostel.
